News and Announcements

On a perfect day to start the fall season, Pelicans FC White dominated play from the opening whistle to take down Inter United FC by a score of 3-1 Sunday. Inter’s brute size was completely outmatched by the controlled tempo and passing of PFC, leading to numerous through passes splitting the defense. Unfortunately, most of these through passes resulted in Richard Henry being offsides, but he repaid his debts by slotting home his first goal of the season with a clinical finish in the second half. Also assisting Bryan Leblang with a very unselfish square ball in the box for Leblang’s second goal of the game, the front line combo proved to be a force to be reckoned with early in the season.

Not to be outdone, the Pelicans’ defense was nearly flawless, not letting balls get through to goalie Steve Cantonis, and always starting the move forward for the offense as well. The game was not all smiles though, as newcomer striker Leblang appeared to have injured his shoulder after his 5th straight takedown from the Inter defense, and will miss the next several weeks. While it was great to start the season with a win, PFC White will need to do better with finishing more of their goalscoring opportunities, and overall control of the ball if they want to continue their quest for promotion this season.

Many new faced donned the Pelicans jersey in the opening week, but the teamwork was obvious from the start, and the team will look to continue the winning start to the season with a matchup versus Atlanta United FC at Brown Middle School at 1:00pm Sunday.

Leblang suffers broken arm

Posted by Pelicans FC - Manager at Oct 4, 2010 9:43AM PDT ( 1 Comment )

Bryan Leblang, the newly signed and popular Atlanta based striker, is likely out of the next three games with a broken arm suffered during the Pelicans home opener against Inter United on Sunday.

Leblang has been ruled out of the next two matches after being injured in a challenge from Inter United’s defender in Sunday’s opener at Atlanta Christian College.

Pelicans FC White captain Lawrence Monroe was hopeful Monday that Leblang could return soon. He didn’t blame Inter United for the injury, just the ref who couldn’t run up and down the field.

“It wasn’t bad or stupid. He didn’t want to hurt anyone,” the Pelicans coach said. “Football is a game of contact.”
Leblang is a new inspirational player for the Screaming Pelicans and is looking to be one of the top strikers in the division, but the frontline happens to be a rather deep position with several players capable of stepping in for Leblang.

Welcome Pelicans FC White

Welcome to the 2010-2011 ADASL season. This site will host the Pelicans FC White and all their associated details.

Here is where you can post and find your team schedules, news, scores, photos, documents, and message boards.

Hampton, GA (May 23, 2010) – The last game of the season was finally scheduled without rain in the forecast and Bob Poynter had a record size crowd in attendance, including his inspiration, his 4-legged 5 pound friend wearing a pink jacket.

On a hot day way down south in Hampton, GA, Pelicans FC looked to notch a final win on the season to tie the clubs other ADASL team with 7 wins.

Glory United started with 10 players, but quickly evened up the game at 11 aside. The run of play was heavily one-sided with that majority of ball control going to the nice smooth field and the remaining possession heavily skewed towards the Pelicans.

Pelicans FC pushed the attack continuously, but were unable to find the back of the net, maybe it was due to the 250 offsides calls the Pelicans forwards and midfields were called on. Midway through the score line would be forever changed with Ryan Costigan putting a bulge in the old onion bag and seeing the Pelicans side up 1-0 at the half.

The second half would see much of the same with the Pelicans and the field taking up much of the possession. However, Glory would mount several counter attacks, but all were thwarted by the Pelicans stand in keeper, including a PK save late in the game. The finishing was lacking, but it only took one on the day for the Pelicans side to finish off an up and down season with another victory. A great team effort by all those in attendance on hot Sunday afternoon.

Marietta, GA (April 18, 2010)

Dear Diary (by Sean Coxen),

Dawn broke early and a slight chill was in the air. The birds sung a sweet tune as I enjoyed a hearty breakfast. The sea was angry that day. [Ryan asked for complete details and a 1000 page essay so I am trying to fill it up.]

All in all, good day for a game. The match started well for us with solid play all around and a couple of fair chances for both sides including a cross bar struck by Southern Wolves from a point blank attempt (sorry about that Clark). Clark did well to deflect and a goal was averted. The ice was broken first by Southern Wolves with a strike from just inside the box to our right side and we found ourselves down 1-0.

Some good resolve was shown as we didn’t get flustered going down early and steadied the ship. We continued to move the ball nicely and capitalized on an opportunity late into the half. Clark punted the ball, Alex skimmed it forward and Lamond ran onto it beat the keeper’s challenge outside the box and then chaperoned the ball into the net. The half ended with a 1-1 tie.

We made special mention to come out into the 2nd half with a purpose and discipline. Do not let down and get down as they say. In order to set the tone, we altered the formation to push more peeps into the midfield to limit their central attack and to provide more support to our forwards. After some early half back and forth, we scored the pivotal go ahead goal with a nice counter attack and a sweet finish by Kevin.

Momentum was ours and the tide was building. Several counter attacks resulted in quality chances. We pulled away as Bob and Mike notched additional goals to distance ourselves in the game. We withstood a late game surge by Southern which brought the chance to equalize the match back onto the table. Again we responded with a final diving header finish by Kevin to cement the victory. It was a good all-around victory with contributions and solid team play up and down the line-up.

Twas nice to win.
